Mercedes-Benz technology features explained

Mercedes-Benz is continually on the cutting edge when it comes to technology. They are often first to market with new and innovative features that the rest of the automotive world simply has to catch up on. Here we will have a list of common Mercedes-Benz technology features and we will attempt to explain them.

2018 Mercedes-Benz E-Class sound system playing pink noiseWhat is Mercedes-Benz PRE SAFE®?

PRE SAFE® is the name that Mercedes-Benz has ascribed to a wide range of safety technology designed to lessen the harm to occupants caused by an impact.  This system does several little things including rapidly inflating front seat bolsters to reduce intrusion in a side impact. This Mercedes-Benz system goes so much further though.

For example, Mercedes-Benz noticed that loud impact noises can damage eardrums temporarily and even permanently. One way to mitigate this damage is to pre-trigger your ear’s natural defenses against loud noises with “pink noise.” If your PRE SAFE® equipped vehicle senses an impending accident, it will play this pink noise in an effort to save your ears.

You’ve likely heard of intelligent cruise control systems, well Mercedes-Benz DRIVE PILOT takes that concept a step further. By utilizing an array of sensors, your DRIVE PILOT equipped Mercedes-Benz can stop and go with traffic, but it can also keep you in between the lines during both straight driving and in curves with no driver input.

What’s more, you can change lanes by simply turning on your turn signal. This system does require you to be attentive, and it is still the driver’s responsibility to stay safe out on the road, but this is a unique glimpse into the future of driving.

ECO mode gives you better efficiency, Sport gives you better performance, and there’s even a mode that you can set yourself.
